MLA cheatsheet

Also, as promised, here‘s the handout that Paola found online and that could be a precious resource for all of us.

Enjoy the weekend and don’t write your draft all at once on Monday night, remember we’re trying to think of writing as a process, rather than as an activity!

Dear Class – some questions I want you to think about with regards to Misery.

  1. The relationship between a celebrity public persona and the real person
  2. If it’s not sexual desire that drives Annie’s fantasies about Paul, what is it?
  3. What would have been different if Misery was set in the age of social media?

Some useful resources/further readings:

Those of you who wish to focus their Essay #1 on the movie (i.e. analyze Annie’s fandom – instead of your own – through one of the theories we discussed in class) that’s perfectly fine with me.

End of DACA

Hi everyone,
because some of you could be impacted/reacting strongly to today’s announcement about the end of DACA – I just wanted to share my thoughts. Quite simply:
all students, regardless of their immigration status, are welcome in my class and on campus.
Also, keep this event (which is happening Wednesday afternoon on campus) on your radar:
Please feel free to email me or come and talk to me if you have any questions.

Dear class –
It was a pleasure meeting you all today. I enjoyed reading your in-class writings – it was particularly interesting how a number of keywords emerged repeatedly from it and I look forward to discussing those terms in class.

For those of you who have yet to send me an email from their QC email account – I strongly encourage you to do so as soon as possible.

Come to class ready to engage with Hinerman’s essay on Elvis. I’m sharing here some videos that can help us contextualize the discussion we are going to have in class on Th:
